The Barclay School

On Monday the 26th of November year 11 GCSE citizenship students joined Stevenage Borough Council for a day to explore the workings of local government.

Mr Alex Lang from Stevenage Borough council organised a comprehensive programme of information gathering and interactive activities that culminated in an exercise where students decided how they would spend £17 million of Local Government funding.

All groups presented their budget and priorities for spending taxpayers’ money to a critical panel of judges.  In the end the day was announced a great learning experience and a success for active citizenship.
